Dr. Michael J. Coffey

Dr. Michael J. Coffey is a board-certified gastroenterologist. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and earned his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now a part of Rutgers University), elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He also received the Lange Book Award and the Van Houten Scholarship while attending medical school.

Dr. Coffey completed his internal medicine residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine (part of Wake Forest University) in Winston-Salem, NC. He then completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY.
 
Prior to joining blount gastroenterology associates in 1999, Dr. Coffey was in private practice in Crossville, TN.
 
Dr. Coffey is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
 
Dr. Coffey is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians (ASIM) and Tennessee Medical Association.
 
Though Dr. Coffey was born in New Orleans, he and his family consider Maryville home. Both of Dr. Coffey's sons share his enjoyment of the outdoors and have been active in scouts, with his oldest earning Eagle before heading off to University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Both boys play an instrument and Dr. and Mrs. Coffey are enthusiastic supporters of the Red Rebel Marching Band.
